SEX IN THE CITY         Marci Weiner

The elegant Regency Club in Westwood was the perfect setting to host Sex And The City – The Ultimate Cocktail Party.  The Manhatten skyline has nothing on the view from the top floor of the Murdock Plaza, and the glamorous guests including  Sherry Shelley, Dr Glenn and Judge Judy Hollinger, and Producer/Humanitarian Barbara Foder, feasted on an array of tantalizing hors d’oeuvres, including the Clubs famous luscious lamb chops.

Café Society pianist Tony Cobb entertained the troops with tunes by Cole Porter, Berlin and Gershwin, and Cosmos, Manhattans, and Daiquiris were sipped by such social  types as Robert Jensen, Dr. Earle and Arlette Crandal, Judge Dion and Glynis Morrow to name a few.

What a fabulous experience to be entertained in the west-side’s  premier private club, with world-class European service, and understated elegance. Thanks go to Social  Director, Jacque Heebner, for an evening of sophistication, grace and charm.

THE WAY WE WERE                  Marci Weiner

A gaggle of celebs were on hand at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood to applaud award winning entertainer Michael Feinstein perform the beautiful music of Alan and Marilyn Bergman.  The star-studded event was hosted by Jim Casey, President of Integrated Wealth Management, who partnered his clients, the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and the Deane F. Johnson Alzheimer’s Research Center at UCLA.
Kate Edelman Johnson, who established the Foundation in honor of her late husband, also was celebrating her Birthday – along with Valerie Harper, who received rave notices for her portrayal of Tallulah Bankhead, in the play “Looped”. Seems Harper, best known as “Rhoda,” which brought her four Emmys and a Golden Globe, is a woman of a thousand faces.  Did you know that she recently portrayed author Pearl Buck, and Golda Meier?
The Bergman’s, whose hits include “The Way We Were”,” What Are You Doing the Rest of your Life”, and the music for Yentil to name a few, celebrated over 50 years of collaboration, and their songs have been nominated for 16 Academy Awards.  Alan himself warbled one of his favorite tunes, “Windmills of Your Mind” for the delighted crowd.
Seems like every major TV series of the past was well represented.  At my table we broke bread with the still gorgeous Donna Mills, and her handsome escort, and Michele Lee, her co-star from Knotts Landing.  Donna will soon appear in the Hallmark movie, Ladies of the House, alongside Florence Henderson and Pam Grier.  While Lee is touring the country with her musical show.
At another table was the Dallas bunch, headed by J.R. himself, Larry Hagman, looking fabulous, despite his health challenges.  He was with his real wife of 54 years, Maj, and his reel wife, Linda Gray, and they were celebrating the 30th anniversary of the debut of Dallas, that transformed the Big D.
Regis Philbin jetted in from the big apple with his wife, Joy, and there seemed to be a mixture of six degrees of separation in the room.  Blonde beauty, Loni Anderson, was there with her new hubby, Bob Flick, and son, Quinton Reynolds.  Since Kate Edelman Johnson was formerly engaged to Burt Reynolds (after Loni divorced him), it was interesting to see the two beauties are on friendly terms.
Then, to add to the mix, Roslyn Kind, Barbra Streisand’s singing sister was in attendance, along with Bab’s former husband, Elliott Gould.
Although there were many high maintenance celebs in the room, kudos must go to the adorable King  Charles Spaniel, which was auctioned off for the cause.  Would you believe that major philanthropist Wallis Annenberg outbid Fred Hyman (Giorgio’s) and coughed up $50,000 for the pedigreed pup?  .
