Beverly Hills Film Festival

The 10th Annual International Beverly Hills Film Festival kicked off their festivities with the World Premiere of As Good As Dead, directed by Jonathan Mossek, starring Andie MacDowell and Carey Elwes.

This thriller features fundamental loyalists, seeking revenge for the murder of their religious leader, but after kidnapping and torturing their captive, they realize they may have the wrong man!

Andie MacDowell, chosen as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, portrays a burn victim, complete with disfigured face and figure, and displays a talent for acting that surpasses her physical attributes.  Andie attended the premiere with her equally gorgeous 19-year old daughter, Rainey Qualley.  Kudos also goes to Carey Elwes, as the man on the run fromAndie and her redneck accomplices.

For five days, the BHFF hosted red carpet premieres, networking events and panel discussions, culminating with their annual Closing Awards Ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Producer, Frank Yablans (North Dallas Forty, Mommy Dearest, and Rocky IV) to name a few, received their Legends Award, for his outstanding contributions to the film industry.

Incoming Mayor of Beverly Hills, Jimmy Delshad, presented a special proclamation announcing the City’s full support to the Festival, and BHFF Founder, Nino Simone was given an award for his commitment to independent cinema.

Among the winning films were 3 Saisons, directed by Jim Donovan, who won the Golden Palm Award (best film in all categories); Hanna Hall, Best Actress for Happiness Runs; Santiago Diaz, Best Actor for En Tus Manos; and Best Director went to Jorge W. Atalia, for Sequestro.

Some of the many VIP’s strutting down the enormous red carpet included Quinton Aaron (The Blind Side), Billy Zane (Titanic) and  Gabor Norman, who designed the hottest accessory for men – the G- Tie.  Norman hammered out a metal accessory to add a unique look for the suit and tie ensemble he wore to the Golden Globes.  The first three men to stop and ask him to get one were Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks and Sting!  Who says that only the ladies get a chance to shine on the Red Carpet?
